Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves Defeats Canal Winchester Despite Allowing 3-Run Inning

Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves weathered a push by Canal Winchester in the fourth inning where Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves coughed up three runs, but Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves still won 9-5 on Saturday. Julia Nein and Kendall Rudd all drove in runs in the frame.

In the first inning, Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves got their offense started when Brynley Rung tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

After Canal Winchester scored two runs in the top of the sixth, Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves answered with two of their own. Canal Winchester scored when Rudd doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Grace Brinker grounded out, scoring one run. Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves then answered when Yvonne Wang singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run and Sutton Evans singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Rung doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs and Josie Janosy singled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

Becca Boue got the win for Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves. Boue allowed six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out three. Meena Lee threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Rhozwyn Casto took the loss for Canal Winchester. The hurler lasted six innings, allowing 12 hits and nine runs while striking out five.

Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves racked up 12 hits in the game. Wang, Rung, and Janosy all managed multiple hits for Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves. Rung and Wang each collected three hits to lead Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves. Worthington Kilbourne Varsity Wolves was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Janosy made the most plays with seven.

Canal Winchester racked up eight hits. Nein and Delaney Six all managed multiple hits for Canal Winchester. Canal Winchester didn’t commit a single error in the field. Abigail McIntosh had the most chances in the field with seven.
